Gavin Brown’s Enterprise In Harlem Host Fundraiser For Puerto Rico

September 27, 2017

Artnews reports that the Gavin Brown’s Enterprise in New York will host a fundraiser organized by Rirkrit Tiravanija to benefit Puerto Rico, which has recently faced mass destruction after two Category Five hurricanes. The fundraiser will be held this coming Thursday at the gallery’s Harlem space.

In order to attend the fundraiser, visitors must donate a minimum of $100 to a YouCaring crowdfunding site. “What can we do?” a statement on the site asks. “We need to pool together resources to rebuild the island as soon as possible. Each of us has to put our talents to use towards the goal of getting Puerto Rico back on its feet again.” According to the statement, all of the funds will be donated to grassroots organizations, with the Acacia Network helping to distribute the funds to those in need.

The fundraiser will include performances from the musicians Buscabulla and D’Marquesina and food by Tiravanija, who currently has shows at the Gavin Brown’s galleries in Harlem and the Lower East Side.
