March 11, 2017

Out of nowhere, Frank Ocean announced that he hosting his second episode of his Beats 1 Radio show, blonded RADIO, on Friday (March 10, 2017) and asked fans to tune in. On the program, he premiered a new track called “Chanel,” which featured his good friend Harlem’s A$AP Rocky.

“Chanel” is the first new song from Ocean since the release of his two critically acclaimed projects Blonde and Endless in August 2016. The song boasts a shuffling beat, an elegant piano riff and Ocean’s stream-of-consciousness lyrics.

Ocean is not singing about the luxury fashion label, but a special person that has been on his mind. “My guy is pretty like a girl / And he got fight stories to tell / I see both sides like Chanel / See on both sides like Chanel,” he sings.

A$AP Rocky comes in at the end where the song shifts to a different type of production. Over a slowed down version of “Chanel,” the Harlem rhymer raps about a woman named Chanel whose beauty shines inside and outside.
