Tickets are now available for the highly anticipated Skylift at Top of the Rock, set to elevate visitors nearly 900 feet above New York City.
This new attraction promises an exhilarating experience with breathtaking, unobstructed 360-degree views of the iconic skyline. Skylift will officially open to the public on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
Experience the Skylift
Located on the 70th floor of 30 Rockefeller Plaza, Skylift features an open-air, revolving platform that ascends an additional three stories beyond the existing observation deck.
Visitors will step onto this unique platform and enjoy a continuous rotation, offering a thrilling sensation of floating among the skyscrapers while capturing stunning panoramic photos.
Tickets for Skylift start at $35 per person and can be purchased as an add-on to the regular Top of the Rock General Admission and Express Passes. Notably, Skylift is included with all VIP and VIP Rock Passes.
Architectural Design and Features
The design of Skylift is a tribute to Rockefeller Center’s classic art deco style. The circular platform is crafted from fiberglass and features marble-like tiers that echo the architectural motifs throughout the Center.
Additionally, Skylift is equipped with 96 LED pixel flutes, creating a captivating light show visible across the city skyline both day and night. This feature can be customized to celebrate significant dates and holidays.EB Kelly, Senior Managing Director at Tishman Speyer and Head of Rockefeller Center, expressed enthusiasm about Skylift, stating, “The thrilling experience of revolving 900 feet above ground for 360-degree views, eye to eye with skyscrapers in the beating heart of New York City, is one no visitor will forget.”
A Collaborative Effort
The development of Skylift involved collaboration with TAIT, a company known for its engineering and fabrication expertise.
Jim Shumway, VP of Project Delivery at TAIT, highlighted the challenges faced during the project but emphasized their excitement for visitors to experience this new attraction.
Part of a Larger Revitalization
Skylift is part of a broader modernization initiative at Top of the Rock, which includes previous additions like The Beam, an interactive photo experience that opened in 2023.
The Welcome Gallery launched in summer 2024, featuring an immersive theater show that delves into the history of Rockefeller Center.
This revitalization effort also encompasses new dining options with acclaimed restaurants such as Jupiter, Le Rock, and NARO.
Shoppers can explore a fresh array of retail destinations including N.Peal and Todd Snyder. The ongoing commitment to public art continues with contemporary works from various artists.
Seasonal Attractions
As fall approaches, Rockefeller Center prepares for its magical holiday season. Visitors can look forward to viewing the iconic Christmas Tree in December and skating at The Rink starting October 12, 2024.
