Diddy Gives Howard’s Commencement Speech

Sean_Combs_2010Harlmeite and music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs will deliver the 146th commencement address at Howard University next month, the historically black college announced Tuesday, April 15th, 2014.

“We are honored to have Mr. Combs serve as our speaker,” interim President Wayne A.I. Frederick said in a statement. “We know he will inspire our class to work hard and to always strive for excellence.”

Combs, 44, was a student at Howard until dropping out in 1990 after two years to pursue a music career. He will receive an honorary doctorate in humanities at the May 10, 2014 convocation in Washington, D.C.Past commencement speakers have included Oprah Winfrey, Hillary Rodham Clinton, former Citigroup and Time Warner chairman Richard D. Parsons, Gwen Ifill of “PBS NewsHour”, Gen. Colin Powell and author and poet Maya Angelou. Honorary degrees will also be given to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, surgeon Clive Callender, jazz musician Benny Golson and PepsiCo CEO Indra K. Nooyi.

Should he give a commencement speech since he drop-out of college at Howard or does it matter?
