On Wednesday, October 16th, 2019, Champions for Quality Education hosted a cocktail party to benefit the Page Turners program at the popular ice cream shop turned speakeasy bar, UES on the Upper East Side.
HarperCollins children’s book authors Janae Marks, From the Desk of Zoe Washington, Booki Vivat, FRAZZLED, and Jodi Kendall, The Unlikely Story of a Pig in the City, were in attendance. Page Turners, a program of Champions for Quality Education, founded by Maureen Pilkington-Rossi, promotes the literary arts across the Archdiocese of New York by bringing celebrated authors right into the classroom.
Event proceeds will bring 12 published authors and supply over 1,000 books to under-resourced New York City Catholic elementary schools, where 70% of enrolled students live near or below the federal poverty line.
