The great photograph above is of a 21year old Cassius Marcellus Clay ‘The Pied Piper of Harlem’, being followed by his Harlem fans on 125th Street in Harlem on December 17th, 1963.
The label on the back on the photograph reads:
During late 1963, Clay had become the top contender for Sonny Liston’s title. And two years later in 1965, Cassius Marcellus Clay would change his name to Muhammad Ali, following his conversion to Islam and affiliation with the Nation of Islam.
