NYCEDC is seeking proposals for rapid COVID tests that can deliver results in minutes and be conducted in a non-medical settings.
As part of New York City’s effort to fight COVID-19, last week, we launched the Rapid Testing Innovation Competition to identify the cutting-edge point of care and at-home COVID tests that will help the City continue to safely expand its economic reopening.
For the competition, we are seeking proposals from diagnostic testing developers, manufacturers, academics, and technologists for rapid COVID tests that can deliver results in minutes, rather than hours, and that can be conducted in a variety of non-medical settings.
Selected respondents may have the opportunity to partner with New York City, leveraging resources such as advanced purchasing, accessing expertise at health agencies, connecting with corporate partners, or use of City property for manufacturing or R&D.
We know testing will be paramount to keep COVID at bay and enable New Yorkers to return to school, work, and more regular everyday activities. Expanded testing options will be critical.

Revised September 30, 2020: Interested parties may submit questions to rapidtesting@edc.nyc until next Wednesday, October 7 at 12 pm. Answers to questions will be posted on a rolling basis. Proposals are due by Wednesday, October 14.
