Apartment Building To Replace Harlem Supply Store

screen_shot_2016-12-12_at_120847_pm-1481563148-6648Plans have been filed to build an 8-story residential and commercial building on an East Harlem site currently occupied by a building supply store on East 106th Street near 2nd Avenue.

The plans were filed Friday with the Department of Buildings by a Jackson Heights-based property owner named Salih Marc. The new building, 308 E. 106th St., will rise 80 feet and house 22 apartment units, according to the building plans.

With 18,803 square feet of residential zoning space the average apartment size in the building will be a little more than 854 square feet, according to building plans. Floors two through six of the building will be occupied by four apartments each and floors seven and eight will house one unit each, according to the plans. The first floor of the building will contain 1,357 square feet of retail space, according to plans filed with the DOB.

The building’s cellar will include a storage room, bike storage and six parking spots, according to the building plans.

No demolition plans have been filed for the structure that currently occupies the site, a 1-story building supply store named Mensch Supply.
