From the bustling city of Bridgeport to the quaintness of Canton, American are increasingly looking to Connecticut as a potential place to raise their families despite expensive housing.
Currently, five cities, in particular, catching the attention of American are: Canton, Stamford, Bridgeport, Hartford, and New Haven. Each has its own unique qualities that make it worth considering despite the high cost of housing. Here’s a closer look at what each city has to offer.
Canton
Canton, located in the northwest corner of Connecticut, offers an idyllic setting with plenty of outdoor activities like hiking and fishing. This charming city boasts excellent schools and a low crime rate, making it an ideal place for families to reside. The cost of living is higher than average due to its desirable location near Hartford and Boston, but many people find that the value of Canton real estate, along with the above-mentioned amenities, more than makes up for the higher price tag.
Stamford
Stamford is located on Long Island Sound and is known for its vibrant downtown area filled with restaurants and shops. It’s home to several major corporations like UBS Financial Services and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc., making it an attractive option for those looking for job opportunities in the finance or hospitality industries. Although living expenses may be greater, there are numerous affordable entertainment options available for residents to enjoy.

It offers plenty of cultural attractions like museums, galleries, and theaters as well as a variety of restaurants serving cuisine from around the world. Hartford
Hartford is Connecticut’s capital city and home to some of the state’s best universities including Trinity College and the University of Hartford.
