Celebrate disability inclusion at the 21st annual Achilles Hope & Possibility® 4M Presented by TD Bank.
On Sunday, nearly 7,000 runners and walkers of all abilities will participate in our Achilles Hope & Possibility 4M Presented by TD Bank. Race celebrates diversity and disability inclusion.
One of those athletes is Puspa Poarangan, a longtime Harlem resident, who has never let her disability define her. Originally from Indonesia and born with a congenital neuro defect, Puspa learned the importance of perseverance from an early age. A physician assistant, Puspa joined Achilles last year and it transformed her life. She never thought she could be an athlete but quickly learned how to handcycle.
Last year’s Achilles Hope & Possibility was her first-ever race and it reframed her perspective – completing the race proved she’s stronger than she thinks. Achilles has empowered Puspa to push outside her comfort zone and accomplish things she never thought possible. This will be her second Achilles Hope & Possibility.
Since 1983, Achilles International has been empowering youth, adults and veterans living with disabilities to participate in adaptive running and endurance sports.
This race leads into July’s Disability Pride Month and the anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Achilles International
Achilles International empowers all people living with disabilities to participate in adaptive running and endurance sports. They build a supportive community to break down barriers to the start line and beyond.
Their vision is a world where everyone can run, walk or roll together. We reframe what’s possible whether it’s in the park, on the race course or in everyday life.
