West Harlem Group Assistance, Inc. (WHGA), a leading community based development corporation, will be hosting its annual awards gala on October 26th 2017, to celebrate leaders who have impacted the development of the West Harlem community and beyond.
WHGA has been a catalyst for community development and social services since its inception in 1971, responsible for affordable housing developments comprising over 1,200 units, with the mission of improving the Harlem community physically and economically.
The WHGA annual awards honor outstanding leaders in community development, while raising funds to support the organization’s various projects and initiatives.
Last year, Reginald Higgins, Principal at Ralphe Bunche School, Hazel Dukes, President, NAACP NYS, and David N. Dinkins, 106th Mayor of the City of New York were all honored for their impact and contributions.
This year’s honorees are another group of inspirational heroes who have lent their hearts and voices to important causes affecting the Harlem community and New York City at large.
They include Tony Hillery, founder and executive director of Harlem Grown, Adrian Council and Jean Nash Wells, founders of The Positive Community magazine, Sabrina Lamb, founding chief executive officer of WorldofMoney.org, and Dyana Williams, media personality and cultural activist.
The awards dinner will take place on Thursday, October 26th, 2017, at ESPACE Ballroom located at 635 West 42nd Street, New York, NY. There will be a cocktail reception at 6pm, followed by the awards dinner at 7pm.
The 2017 awards dinner is proudly sponsored by Phipps Houses, BNY Mellon, Chase, Mega Contracting Group, Columbia University, First Republic Bank, Joined Development, and Federated National Land.
