Harlem Commonwealth Council And Citi To Launch MWBE Accelerator In Harlem NY

October 3, 2017

Access. Readiness. Capacity. Harlem Commonwealth Council (HCC) is launching a new, first-of-its-kind digital solution that will help make the procurement of minority and women-owned business enterprises (MWBEs) faster and easier while transforming local communities. The digital solution is called the MWBE ACCELERATOR.

For decades, minority and women-owned business enterprises (MWBEs) in New York have faced barriers in finding, applying, and winning contracting opportunities.Billions of dollars are available and earmarked for MWBEs, yet last year, less than five percent of these opportunities within NYC government landed with one of these firms, thereby stunting the growth of MWBEs as job creators and economic contributors to thriving communities across New York. Harlem Commonwealth Council (HCC) and Better Local Business Agency (BLBA) with support from Citi Community Development (CCD) have joined forces to launch a first-of-its-kind digital solution called the MWBE Accelerator, designed exclusively to remove barriers and unlock the growth potential of MWBEs through procurement opportunities.
