CCEM’s Health Reporting Fellowship: Call For Applications From Harlem To The Hudson

March 27, 2017

The Center for Community and Ethnic Media is offering a new Health Reporting Fellowship this spring for everyone from Harlem to the Hudson. For six consecutive Tuesdays beginning on April 18, classes will be held from 5:30 pm to 8 pm, taught by professors from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism and other experts.

The Health Reporting Fellowship will give reporters from the community and ethnic media the tools to report on and understand a variety of health topics. How to find the right health experts, how to analyze health data and how to interpret health studies will be covered.  The health care system, personal health, cultural issues in health and health equity are among the topics that will be discussed.

Participants in the fellowship will be expected to produce one story – print, audio, video or multimedia – to be published in Voices of NY and their own publications. (A small stipend will be provided following publication in Voices of NY.)

Health fellows will be selected based on the application below, the deadline for which is April 10. Applicants will be notified about whether they have been accepted by April 12.
