Round 2 For Pre-K For All Applications Opens Today From Harlem To Hollis

March 27, 2017

Please let your families know that Round 2 of the pre-K application process is officially underway for families who haven’t already applied to pre-K!

All students born in 2013 who currently live in New York City are eligible for a free, full-day, high-quality pre-K seat in September 2017. All families, including those of students with disabilities and students learning English, must submit an application in order to receive a pre-K offer. Admission is not first-come, first-served. All Round 2 applications received by the May 9, 2017 deadline are treated the same, according to schools’ admissions priorities.

Families who already submitted a Round 1 pre-K application by the March 3, 2017 deadline do not need to take any action. They will receive their pre-K offer letters in late April, and may submit a Round 2 application after receiving their offer letter by May 9, 2017.

Families are able to apply in one of three ways:

  • Online at nyc.gov/prek. The online application is available in ten languages (English, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Arabic, Korean, Haitian Creole, Bengali, Urdu and French)
  • Over the phone, by calling 718-935-2067. Families can access translation services over the phone in over 200 languages
  • In person at one of the DOE’s Family Welcome Centers. Families can find their local Family Welcome Center below or by visiting our website

Families can use the online Pre-K Finder to find programs near them, and families looking for more information about the application process should review the Pre-K Directory. Both resources are available in ten languages. Additionally, hard copies of English and translated directories are available for all families who need one. Hard copies are available at our Family Welcome Centers, elementary schools, pre-K programs, and libraries and community organizations across the City.

In Harlem, NY you can go to:

388 West 125th Street, room 713, New York, NY 10027, in districts: 3, 5, and 6.

Statement from the Chancellor: “Pre-K is an absolutely critical foundation for success in kindergarten and elementary school, and I encourage all families to apply. We are making the process as easy as possible for families by opening Round 2 earlier than ever.”
