You probably know that Harlem has a Ashley Stewart store on 125th Street, but did you know that yesterday, the plus-size retailer announced that Harlem’s 23-year-old Ilianna Ayala is the winner of their #AshleyTrueModelContest?
That’s right, Ilianna is a professional make-up artist, beauty blogger, and recent college grad that entered the contest:
After experiencing the naysayers, we need a role model, someone to tell others it’s okay if you’re not a size 2 you’re still beautiful. I want to use my platform to inspire and encourage women to embrace their bodies.
The Puerto Rican and Bolivian born Harlemite, Ilianna better known as Beauty Marked Illy was chosen as the winner out of over 70K entries. Part of her prize is a campaign with Ashley Stewart and two-year modeling contract with True Model Management.
