Ponty Bistro Harlem Celebrates Two Years Of Memory Making

ponty bistro2Ponty Bistro, the restaurant known for its creative French + African cuisine, will celebrate its second anniversary in its Harlem location with a special happy hour on Thursday, August 4, 2016. owners at ponty bistro in harlem1Led by Senegalese-American chef Elhadji A. Cisse (Chef Cisse)—who was a 2009 finalist on the hit Food Network show Chopped”—together with his first cousin Ali Cisse (Chef Ali), the location has become an uptown hotspot. The restaurant’s first location, opened in 2008, is a Gramercy Park favorite.

In honor of the momentous occasion, the chefs are inviting food lovers for a free sangria from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on August 4. The full happy hour runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and includes free hors d’oeuvres, with other cocktails ranging from $6 to $8. DJ Tunder, who regularly spins for the location, will serve up his own special mix of hits from R&B to African to reggae. The restaurant is accepting dinner reservations that night for those wishing to continue the celebration.

The culinary cousins came to New York from Senegal in the 1990s, working their way up from dishwashers to executive chef positions in the kitchens of some of the most world-renowned chefs in the world, names like Daniel Boulud and Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

“We are so thankful for the support of our patrons who have welcomed and championed us in Harlem,” said Chef Cisse. “We are ever indebted to them for their patronage.”
