NY Daily News reports that NYPD and kids squared off in a basketball game Tuesday in a refurbished city housing gymnasium in Harlem — and the players have a bunch of drug dealers to thank for it.
City officials unveiled the Frederick E. Samuel Houses’ renovated gym, which was financed with drug-trafficking proceeds the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor obtained during criminal cases.
Officials and the Police Athletic League spent $32,000 to fix up the gym and fund the basketball game, which the youths won.
