By Rep Charles Rangel
My 46th and final year in Congress got off to a busy start as we began to tackle some very important issues in the New Year. As I plan to retire at the end of this term, I invite you to tell me what issues I should focus on in my last year as a Member of Congress. Please join me at a community discussion that I will be hosting with community leaders, heads of schools, organizations, religious institutions, and businesses in Washington Heights, Inwood and the Marble Hill sections of Upper Manhattan. The meeting will be held at the Riverstone Senior Center, 99 Fort Washington Avenue on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 10:00 AM.
At this meeting, I will discuss the important topics under consideration by the House and Senate, including Healthcare, Immigration Reform, and the President’s plan to stop gun violence This will also give us the opportunity to discuss other legislative issues in the City Council and State Legislature that will ultimately have an impact on our communities. As community leaders, I would deeply appreciate all your expressed views and suggestions during our meeting. As we move forward in the lawmaking process, it will help me to better understand the concerns and needs of residents of our Washington Heights, Inwood, and Marble Hill communities and how we can better address them.
You may bring as many guests as you would like. I only ask that you please RSVP you and your guest’s attendance.
Please RSVP on my website (http://rangel.house.gov/Townhall1) or by calling District Representative Socrates Solano in my office at (212) 663-3900 or via email (socrates.solano@mail.house.gov).
I look forward to seeing you on January 30th for our first discussion of 2016.
