T.L.C.’s Educators Open House: Dear Diaspora II At HSA

hsa sholarships in harlemCome to the Harlem Schools of the Arts to participate in a free professional development workshops, T.L.C.’s Educators Open House: Dear Diaspora II. Choose from 4 workshops that target grades Pre K to 12. Educators will explore relevant lesson planning activities aligned with the NYC Social Studies Scope and Sequence, as well as the NYC Blueprint for the Arts.

Kicking off the academic year, this Dear Diaspora Open House is especially designed for New York City educators! We will be providing free professional development opportunities rooted in the unique offerings of CCCADI’s Touching Living Culture (T.L.C.) Arts Education Programs. Educators will explore relevant lesson planning activities aligned with the NYC Social Studies Scope and Sequence, as well as the NYC Blueprint for the Arts. For teachers attending from schools located within select City Council Districts 6, 8, & 17, financial sponsorship of $300 will be allocated towards the contract of any CCCADI’s T.L.C. Arts Programs.* Hosted by the Harlem School of the Arts, and following T.L.C. Open House event, teachers are also invited to attend their theater performance of renowned Afro-Cuban dance ensemble, Oyu Oro, founded by Danys “La Mora” Pérez!

Workshops for educators will include the following:

3:30pm – 4:45pm

Grades 3-5 | Afro-Puerto Rican Bomba and Plena Dance and Music

Grades 9-12 | Visual Arts- Teaching History, Geography, and Culture Through Artist Profiles

5:00pm – 6:10pm


Grades 6-8 | 19th Century Black America Through Improv Theater

Grades PreK-2 | Storytelling and Music from the African Diaspora
