Over one million people will flock to midtown to uptown today to ring in the new year in Times Square.
The New Year’s Eve festivities will mean lots of crowds, street closures and subway service disruptions.
N and R trains running in both directions will bypass 49th Street between 7 p.m. and midnight on New Year’s Eve, while northbound No. 1 trains will bypass 50th Street from 7 p.m. until after midnight.
The NYPD will start closing midtown streets at 1:30 p.m. Seventh Avenue between 41st Street and 59th Street, Broadway between 47th and 59th, and Sixth and Eighth between 43rd and 47th. By 5 p.m, 42nd Street will be closed entirely between Sixth and Eighth avenues.
