It is a one-stop destination for all adventure lovers and explorers, it is a city with crazy energy and positive vibes all around.
When I visited this city I was impressed with the happy mood of this city. Natives are very joyful, friendly, and welcoming, you will never feel alone in this city. I went on a solo trip here but in this city, I made a few friends who helped me to explore the unseen.
While planning this tour, I had a tight budget but bus Hop on Hop off Madrid and proper planning helped me to complete my trip within my budget.
In this article, I will tell you the must-visit places in Madrid and how to manage your trip on a low budget.
Let’s get started.
Trip to Madrid
Madrid is located in the middle of Spain and it is well connected with all the transport. You can reach here via flight, train or by road. I used the train because it was more affordable than other mediums but you can choose what you prefer.
After reaching there, I started hunting for hotels to find a decent and budget-friendly room. Madrid is a tourist place and it hosts millions of guests every year that’s why they have several hotels and I opted for one of them. It had a nice aesthetic and delicious food and it was affordable also.
After settling down and having evening breakfast, I explored the local market. The sun was setting, street lights were twinkling, streets were crowded with people and the market’s mood was so joyful that I forgot I was tired.
The next day I woke up and started my trip, I decided to visit all the famous sites and chose bus hopping to do this because it was exciting and budget-friendly. I visited different places on this trip:-
1. Madrid Square
Madrid Square is located at the heart of the city and filled with tourists and locals because it is one of the most famous places. This place is also known as Plaza Mayor, this location is connected with the whole town which makes it easy to reach there. You can take the metro or bus to visit here because it is comfortable and cheap.
Madrid Square is an ideal starting point for exploring the city. The square is surrounded by some of Madrid’s most famous attractions, including the Royal Palace of Madrid, the Teatro Real opera house, and the Gran Vía shopping district. It is also the site of the
iconic clock tower the bear and strawberry tree statue, which have become symbols of the city.
You will find street performers, local vendors, and cafes and they will keep you entertained.
2. Royal Palace
Royal Palace of Madrid is now being used for ceremonies and is located in a crowded place near the market, making it easier to reach. Buses and the metro are the best means of transportation to get there. You can see old paintings and furniture in this place. It has a rich history that’s why tourists visit here.
3. Sun’s Gate
Sun’s Gate is also known as Puerta del Sol, it is meant to connect all the roads in Madrid. It is located in the city center and covered with popular sites that attract tourists and locals.
It used to be the city’s eastern gate and now it is much more than that. The square is home to the famous clock tower, “Real Casa de Correos”, whose bells mark the beginning of a new year.
4, Buen Retiro Park
If you want to visit a calm and peaceful place, you must visit this park. This is the peace of the city in the middle of chaos. It is located in a huge area with beautiful greenery and lakes. If you are visiting Madrid in the summer, you must see this in the evening when the sky is pink and you can enjoy the vibe with your loved one. But if you you are planning a winter trip, you must enjoy the sun’s rays by sitting in this park.
5. Market of San Miguel
Enjoying a happening central location close to Plaza Mayor, the Market Of San Miguel is a covered market that is a must-visit for every traveler to experience the real taste of Spain like a local.
With more than thirty local vendors ready to serve you inside the market, get to savor some of the best tapas, hams, and baked items, and select from an exhaustive list of champagne, wine, and beer. It is the best place to hang out in a beautiful evening with your partner or your friends, you can try local foods and visit local stores to know the city deeply.
Conclusion
I will end this article by suggesting hop on hop off bus for travel within the city. Hoping on and off in Madrid is the best thing you can do to visit all the famous sites on a low budget.
