District Council 9 Launches Recruitment For Metal Refiner Apprenticeship Program

November 25, 2024

District Council 9 will be conducting a formal Metal Refinisher apprentice recruitment beginning November 25th, 2024.

The recruitment will be conducted at the union’s training center in Long Island City, NY and will cover the New York City and Long Island regions. The recruitment will last from November 25 through December 11, 2024, however, there will not be applications offered November 27 through November 29 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

The District Council 9 Finishing Trades Institute of New York offers apprentices on-the-job and in-classroom training to ensure every apprentice is prepared to tackle the complex building market. DC 9 apprenticeships offer New Yorkers a pathway to a stable career with family-sustaining wages and benefits.

The recruitment will occur over a ten-day period or until 500 applications are distributed, whichever comes first. Applications will be distributed in person on a first-come, first-served basis, at the District Council 9 Finishing Trades Institute of New York training facility.

“District Council 9 is proud to continue to provide top-notch apprenticeship opportunities for New Yorkers to access stable and rewarding careers in the building trades,” said Joseph Azzopardi, Business Manager/Secretary Treasurer. “DC 9’s apprenticeship programs prepare New York’s workforce with the skills and trainings necessary for success. We are excited to be launching this year’s recruitment for Metal Refinisher Apprentices and welcoming new brothers and sisters into our union.”
