For the month of June, Harlem’s celebrated comfort food restaurant Melba’s will offer a delicious rainbow, multi-layered Pride-themed cake in partnership with God’s Love We Deliver.
The NYC-based nonprofit plans to cook and home-deliver more than 4.3 million medically tailored meals to New Yorkers living with severe and chronic illnesses in this year alone. The partnership will kick off a month filled with love, acceptance, and, above all, pride.
“Melba’s will donate half of all proceeds earned …”
Throughout June, Melba’s will donate half of all proceeds earned from the Rainbow Pride Cake to God’s Love. Patrons can purchase a slice of cake ($10) to celebrate love and diversity in the New York community.
“I have been a longtime supporter of God’s Love We Deliver’s dedication to helping communities across the New York metropolitan area, and we are so proud to collaborate with them to debut our rainbow Pride Cake,” said restaurateur and celebrity chef Melba Wilson, who is a valued Board Member of God’s Love We Deliver. “Each cake is not only delicious but also extends a helping hand to support the incredible endeavors of the organization.”
At its inception, God’s Love We Deliver served one client living with HIV/AIDS. Over the past four decades, the organization has evolved to serve the broader needs of New Yorkers living with more than 200 severe and chronic illnesses, including individuals impacted by HIV/AIDS. God’s Love relies on the engagement of volunteers and donations from supporters like Melba’s, who provide 65 percent of all funding.
“At God’s Love We Deliver, food is a symbol of love, care, and acceptance,” said David Ludwigson, President & CEO of God’s Love We Deliver. “We are always grateful to partner with Chef Melba Wilson because she shares the same commitment to making food with compassion that will support recovery and healing.”
At God’s Love We Deliver, each medically tailored meal is handcrafted with love, always made with quality, nutritionist-approved ingredients, and delivered with personalized care when New Yorkers need it most.
“… we plan to home-deliver more than 4.3 million medically tailored meals …”
God’s Love We Deliver cooks and home-delivers nutritious, medically tailored meals for people too sick to shop or cook for themselves. Founded in 1985 as a response to the AIDS pandemic, we now serve people living with more than 200 different diagnoses. To support the health and well-being of our clients, we provide ongoing nutrition assessment, education, and counseling, and advocate for food and nutrition support. God’s Love is a non-sectarian organization serving individuals living with illness, and their children and caregivers. With a community of thousands of volunteers, we plan to home-deliver more than 4.3 million medically tailored meals to nearly 15,000 individuals this year. All services are free to clients and full of love. For more information, visit glwd.org.
