Mr. Willie Walker, a well-regarded community leader in Harlem and Life Patron of the NYC Multicultural Festival will officially open the festival with an African-inspired ceremony at 11:10 am on June 1 and at 12:10 pm on June 22. Returning as master of ceremonies for the June 1st festival will be Gordon Gatherer, an actor, singer, songwriter, and playwright. Doctor Bob Lee, a legendary on-air personality and Community Affairs Director at WBLS 107.5 FM will be the host for the June 22 event.

“New York City boasts a wide array of world-class talent, and we are excited for this year’s line-up of musicians and performers,” said Joyce Adewumi, the founder of the NYC Multicultural Festival and the president and founder of NYACE. “We chose collaboration as our festival’s theme this year to illustrate how together we can solve our common problems and make this city more enjoyable for all,” she added.

According to Captain Cary Rose, Commanding Officer of the 30th Precinct, “We will have a game truck and a rock wall for the youth as well as several great opportunities for the community to engage and get involved with their local police officers.”

The NYC Multicultural Festival was founded in 2010, by Joyce Adewumi when NYPD Chief Philip Banks III (retired) was seeking community leaders who would be willing to partner with the NYPD to create programs that would help to reduce hate crimes in the city and foster better relationships between the NYPD and the community.

The New York African Chorus Ensemble, Inc., the parent company of the NYC Multicultural Festival, is a 501(c) 3 organization which, among other things, employs the arts as a tool to combat the issues of racial, ethnic, and religious intolerance in our community.
