ONSiRIN Struts Into The Spotlight, Making Its Dazzling Debut At New York Fashion Week 2024/2025 (NYFW)

February 13, 2024

In partnership with Runway7ONSIRIN, the luxury ready-to-wear brand founded in late 2023, took center stage marking their New York Fashion Week debut on Saturday, February 10, 2024.

Hailing from Parsons School of Design, Designer and Founder Onsirin Buranupakorn, titled the collection the ‘Great Feminine Appropriation’ emphasizing traditional femme silhouettes with a deconstructed edge.

Presenting five outfits, 3 womenswear and 2 menswear, Onsirin has quickly been deemed an emerging designer to watch.

“This collection is rooted in the history of menswear and the idea of “The Great Masculine Renunciation,” the cultural movement in the 18th century where men “abandoned their claim to be considered beautiful” and stopped dressing in colors and elaborate silhouettes”, says Onsirin.

In the debut collection, “The Great Feminine Appropriation”, Onsirin blends constructive details familiar with traditional menswear – suits, lapels, shoulder pads, neckties with a hyper-feminine ode to Old Hollywood and 1950 to 60’s haute couture.

Thai-raised and Parsons-trained, ONSIRIN was founded in 2023 by Onsirin Buranupakorn. Onsirin was born and raised in Thailand. She moved to Los Angeles to study Entrepreneurship at UCLA at 18 years old.

A few years ago, she moved to NYC to attend Parsons School of Design where she studied fashion design, and graduated with Honors in 2023.  Before fashion, Onsirin worked in luxury marketing, hotel hospitality and real-estate development in Thailand.

Entering the New York fashion industry, Onsirin has trained with the luxury evening wear brand Sem Sem and the New York iconic Ready-to-Wear brand Anna Sui. The founder named her fashion label after her Thai name, “ON-SIRIN,” which means the woman who possesses feminine elegance and goodness. She believes that her brand should embrace her Thai heritage while also always striving for the two qualities her name represents — beauty and excellence.

It is Onsirin’s mission to build a fashion that is not only uncompromisingly beautiful, but also champions exquisite craftsmanship as well as ethical and sustainable production. As a designer, Onsirin often up-cycles dead-stock fabrics and thrifted garments to create one-of-a-kind fashion pieces. She has fun experimenting with draping and repurposing vintage garments to create original, sculptural designs.
