Zeta Inwood Elementary School Students Drop Everything To Code During National Computer Science Education Week

December 15, 2023

On Wednesday, December 6th,  2023, Zeta Inwood Elementary School hosted a ‘Drop Everything and Code’ event in participation with National Computer Science Education Week’s “Hour of Code”.

A nationwide initiative to inspire K-12 students to delve into the world of computer science.  Throughout the event, Zeta Inwood’s pre-K through sixth-grade students had the unique opportunity to utilize the coding skills that they’ve honed through Zeta’s Innovation Lab — a cutting-edge, world-class STEM curriculum that trains students in computer science skills through the Code.org platform

“I was proud to help lead the ‘Hour of Code’ at Zeta last week. In an ever-changing world, where technology like AI is becoming more and more ubiquitous, schools have a responsibility to begin introducing their students to computer science and coding at a young age,” said Ope Bukola, a member of Zeta’s Board of Directors who helped lead the event. “Zeta is leading this charge, and — through its cutting edge curricula, programs, and events — helping ensure that Zeta students are supplied with the tools to succeed in the AI-centered world of tomorrow.”

“The ‘Drop Everything and Code’ event was an incredible opportunity for our students to continue learning about how to code and utilize technology,” said Samantha Ramirez, a teacher at Zeta Charter Schools. “The students were all incredibly engaged and had lots of questions — many of them even wanted to create their own apps. It’s important that our students know that they are the next generation of leaders in STEM and they can be the  visionaries for our future.”

With programming like “Drop Everything and Code,” Zeta seeks to expand the horizons of a traditional K-12 education and present students with unique opportunities to explore their interests, build their confidence, and develop an inherent joy of learning.

Zeta’s dedication to whole-child education fosters creativity and confidence in students —helping them reach their limitless potential.
