On Friday, a fire broke out inside a coffee shop in Harlem, New York, leading to the hospitalization of three firefighters, according to authorities.
At approximately 7:51 p.m., emergency responders rushed to the scene at NBHD Brulee, located at 2620 8th Avenue, (between West 139th and 140th Streets) in Harlem. Fire officials stated that a total of 12 units, including 60 firefighters and medics, were dispatched to combat the ground-floor blaze within the six-story building. As of Monday, the condition of the injured firefighters had not been disclosed.
Officials reported that the fire was brought under control at around 8:44 p.m., and an investigation into its cause is ongoing. Due to the damage sustained in the fire, NBHD Brulee remains closed as of Monday, and it is uncertain whether the coffee shop intends to reopen.
This incident represents another setback for the coffee shop this year, as it was previously burglarized in May, resulting in the replacement of its front door through a GoFundMe fundraiser.
Additionally, over the weekend, Harlem experienced at least two more fire incidents, as informed by fire officials. On Saturday, a fire was reported in a 14-story apartment building at 237 W 127 Street around 11:30 a.m., and on Sunday, another fire was reported on the second floor of a 10-story building at 100 W 131 Street at approximately 12:20 p.m. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries in either of these incidents.
