This event is being sold relentlessly by the organizers but does not yet have a location. They want to hold it on the western part of Dyckman Street, but no other night market in the city is in a location that is either next to residential areas or would block traffic so severely it would require closing highway exits. Those factors cannot just be ignored when you are running “multiple stages” and trying to draw up to 20,000 people.
It seems that the organizers hope if they push for the event hard enough the city agencies will relent and grant them a permit. It would be much better for everyone if they looked at a more feasible location, such as the commercial zone of Dyckman between Broadway and Post. Or inside Fort Tryon Park to replace the Medieval Festival.
