Is pleased to announce the highly anticipated 30th Annual Juneteenth Celebration, the oldest known celebration of the Emancipation of Slavery.
This year’s event will take place on Saturday, June 17, 2023, and promises to be a memorable day filled with festivities, education, and unity.
State Senator Cordell Cleare will host her annual breakfast before the festivities and is looking forward to participating in this year’s event. When asked about the significance of this year’s event, she stated, “Juneteenth holds tremendous significance as a moment of reflection, celebration, and education. It serves as a reminder of the struggles endured and the progress we have made towards equality. I invite everyone to join us in commemorating this important milestone in our nation’s history.”
The highlight of the celebration will be a vibrant parade that will commence promptly at 11:00 am. Spectators can expect a magnificent display of marching bands, dazzling floats, and enthusiastic participants representing various organizations.
The parade route will be along 116th Street, between Malcolm X Boulevard and 5th Avenue in Harlem.
Following the parade, a lively street fair will take place from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, offering a wide array of activities, entertainment, and delicious food.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore vendors highlighting their crafts, experience live performances, and engage with local businesses and community organizations dedicated to promoting equality and justice.
To participate in the parade, all marshals, floats, bands, organizations, and general participants are required to assemble at 10:00 am on 116th Street, between Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevard and Malcolm X Boulevard (Lenox Avenue) in Harlem. This gathering will allow for efficient coordination and ensure a seamless start to the parade. Senator Cleare will have a light breakfast available at 102 West 116th Street in Harlem.
