The preservation community and the Mt. Morris neighborhood is up in arms that another landmarked building in Harlem has been demolished. Is this a trend?
Preservation advocates and elected officials are calling on the City to re-evaluate its policy to allow neglected buildings to deteriorate so badly that the only recourse is to knock them down to protect the community from danger. This is not just a Harlem problem, it’s a citywide problem that must be addressed.
