Ukrainian Dancers, Teatro Sea, Mosquiteros, And Fun For Kids At The Medieval Festival In Uptown

September 29, 2022

The annual Medieval Festival in Fort Tryon transforms the park into a medieval market town and showcases medieval-era demonstrations, crafts, music, and live jousts on horseback among other displays!

The event starts on Sunday, October 2, 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fort Tryon’s Cafe Lawn, Cloisters Lawn, and drives just north of Harlem, NY (directions).

New this year, the festival is proud to present the Ukrainian Folk dancers performing at 1 and 3 pm, on the Joust Tournament Field,  Teatro Sea, and Mosquiteros Productions performing in English and Spanish and family watercolor art projects with the Met Cloisters!

Also for the kids- don’t miss the Playdate Puppets, Wonderspark Puppets and participatory art projects with artist Francine Perlman at the Children’s Little Theatre, north of the Museum and sponsored by the Fort Tryon Park Trust.

The Children’s Costume Parade is at 4:15 on the main Joust Field, and Live Jousts will take place at 2 and 5 p.m.

Due to security concerns, the NYC Police Dept has asked all festival attendees to forgo weapons as part of their costumes. Weapons will be confiscated at entry and large bags will be searched. Take the A train to 190th Street.

For vehicle/Uber access, arrange for drop off at 741 Fort Washington Avenue. Most venues are wheelchair accessible, however, those with mobility issues may experience difficulty on lawn areas.

No ATMs on site.

*Fort Tryon’s roadway and Henry Hudson Parkway entry will be closed from 6 am to 9 pm on Sunday
* No Parking on Cabrini Boulevard north of 190th Street
