To honor those who lost their lives on 9/11,New York Blood Center (NYBC) will be hosting a day of service and encouraging New Yorkers to donate blood or volunteer.
New Yorkers are welcome to donate at any of NYBC’s donor centers as well as at the numerous blood drives being held across the region.
September 11th is a National Day of Service and Remembrance and it is an annual tradition for communities across New York to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks through life-saving blood donations. There are many organizations that host blood drives each year to commemorate the anniversary and honor those lost, including The Lakeview Fire Department, The Hebrew Institute of Riverdale and South Branch Emergency Services. Many of these organizations lost members of their community on that day and this is a way to remember them.
This weekend, donors can make appointments at their nearest donor center listed here. Blood drives are also being held this Sunday, September 11th to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks, which include:

As always, people are not eligible to donate if they’re experiencing a cold, sore throat, respiratory infection or flu-like symptoms.
