Now You Can Book Your COVID-19 Appointment At Walgreens From Harlem To Hawaii

May 4, 2021

Uber has added a new feature that lets customers book COVID-19 vaccine appointments at Walgreens directly from its app.

At an event called “Get and Go 2021” on Wednesday morning, the ride-hailing giant said it’s partnered with Walgreens to enable U.S. customers to schedule a COVID-19 vaccine appointment at the pharmacy chain’s stores “with a few taps” in its app.

Starting Wednesday, Uber users will see a “Vaccine” option in the app.

Once users enter their zip code, they’ll see a list of nearby Walgreens locations with available vaccine appointments.

They can then schedule a ride to the appointment, and a push notification will remind them of the appointment beforehand.

“We’re committed to helping ensure that transportation is not a barrier to getting vaccinated,” Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said in a press release.  “We know that by making it easier to get to an appointment, more people will get vaccinated. By partnering with Walgreens, our goal is to make getting that shot as easy as booking a ride with Uber.”

This isn’t the first time Uber and Walgreens have teamed up to assist in the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.

The companies have also partnered to hold vaccination clinics in Atlanta, El Paso, Chicago, Houston, and Milwaukee.

Uber and Walgreens have plans to set up more clinics in other locations that have been hardest hit by the pandemic.

“As COVID-19 vaccine inventories expand, so has our shared commitment with Uber to providing innovations that help accelerate access to the vaccine for communities across America,” said Walgreens President John Standley.
