The teacher learning to engage her classes online, the retired nurse volunteering at the local hospital, and the home health aide riding the subway to help the homebound.
They’re everyday women who inspire us during this crisis and have an impact on our lives each day. Our communities are home to countless such women – our friends and neighbors — yet their stories are seldom told. Now, you have the opportunity to share these stories on WomensActivism.NYC and literally write women into history.
WomensActivism.NYC is a project spearheaded by the NYC Department of Records and Information Services (Municipal Archives) to commemorate the 100th anniversary of women gaining the right to vote in the United States.
By joining this workshop, you will gather virtually in a welcoming community to share and write uplifting stories of the women who have made a difference in our lives. Your mother, your grandmother, a friend or community leader — the stories we write will be maintained in the Municipal Archives forever!
We hope to collect 20,000 stories honoring women across the globe by the close of 2020. Your participation in this workshop brings us closer to this goal.
To attend the event, you will need a computer or a phone. The workshop will take place via WebEx. Directions on how to access the event will be emailed to everyone who RSVPs through the Eventbrite link above.
In order to add stories to womensactivism.nyc, you will need an internet connection.
The National Tell-a-Story Day workshop will be offered as follows:
Monday, April 27, 2020, 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM (EST)
