Extell Development Makes A Mark In Replacing Former East Harlem Pathmark

A closed Pathmark that has an entire block of 125th Street in East Harlem for five years will be developed into a nine-story office tower.

The tower will have more than 350,000 square feet of commercial space, according to plans filed with the city Department of Buildings this month.

Extell Development filed plans with the city to construct the new 120-foot-tall office development in early April, according to city records. The firm filed demolition plans for the existing block-length, two-story structure in February.

Extell, which is best known for developing some of New York’s largest luxury residential buildings, will also include a 40,851-square-foot community facility in the development. Tenants for the community space and offices have not been announced.

The site, located at one of the busiest intersections of East Harlem’s main commercial street, has remained vacant since the grocery store closed.
