Known for its sandy beaches, warm climate, and the renowned San Diego Zoo, it’s little wonder why millions of tourists from all four corners of the planet head to San Diego on vacation. No matter how long you’re heading to the city for it’s only natural that you will want to do and see as much as you can, so if you aren’t sure where to begin, here are five of the best things to do when in San Diego.
Balboa Park
Home to the world-famous San Diego Zone, Balboa Park is spread across 1,200 acres, meaning there is a lot to check out. Situated in downtown San Diego (roughly two miles north from the city center), a park is a great place for a walkabout, picnic or bike ride. Immersing yourself in the park’s many gardens and soaking up the gorgeous architecture can help you learn more about what makes San Diego such a special city with tourists.
Wine Tasting Tour
There are lots of tours that you can embark on when in San Diego. For the wine lovers, you must sign yourself up for a wine tasting San Diego tour. Escaping from the hustle of city life and heading to Temecula Valley can enable you to sample some of the finest wines that the country has to offer. For the urban junkies, you can embark on a wine tasting tour that gives you access to a wide selection of wine bars located in Downtown San Diego.
Hit the Beach
If you don’t live close to the seaside, getting away from day to day life and swapping it for the beach is another reason why San Diego is such a popular hotspot. With miles upon miles of sandy beaches and crystal-clear sea to explore, you can take a much-needed break from the hustle and bustle of work, and instead sit back, relax, and unwind on one San Diego’s many beaches. There are lots of water sports that you may want to try out too, such as surfing and kayaking.
Petco Park
For sports lovers, no trip to San Diego is complete without a visit to Petco Park. Regarded as one of the best baseball stadiums in the United States, why not take a few hours out of your day and go and see a baseball game? Once inside the stadium, you can take in the striking skyline that San Diego has to offer too. Built-in 2004, Petco Park provides visitors with views of San Diego’s East Village. The stadium also plays host to concerts too, with many of the top performers from across the globe gracing the park each year.
Liberty Public Market
If you find yourself hungry and close to San Diego Bay, you must take a visit to Liberty Public Market. With a wide range of independently run food stalls, visitors can wander through the bustling market and sample food from a range of different backgrounds.
One of the best things about San Diego is there is an activity or excursion to suit everyone, regardless of age, meaning if you’re heading to the city for a family vacation, there are tons of exciting things that you can do that involve all the family.
