While we love Harlem to pieces, it’s not breaking news to anyone who has been here to hear that it can get extremely cold during the winter months. Because of the freezing temperatures that the New York winter can bring, it’s no wonder why so many people are choosing to go on a winter vacation to somewhere much warmer, rather than risk being snowed in, or worse, stranded by the snow ice. If you’re going to the effort to escape the cold this winter, make sure that you follow these tips to ensure that you have the best fashion for your winter vacation.
Black is Out, White is In
While black is said to be slimming and can look very sophisticated or dramatic depending on the styling, white is the color you want to be wearing for this trip. This is due to a number of reasons, mainly for the scientific reason that white actively repels heat particles while black absorbs it. A white dress can also create an elegant, delicate and almost goddess-like appearance that will be sure to wow anyone looking your way. You can even wear a white bikini to accentuate your skin color and tan at the beach.
Baseball Caps Are Out, Sun Hats Are In
While baseball caps do an okay job of keeping the sun out of your eyes, nothing will finish off your white dress and wedged sandal ensemble like a beautiful, floppy sunhat. This hat absolutely reeks of summer and not only shields the sun from your eyes, but can provide shade over your whole face and even your shoulders, meaning that it is much more effective than your typical baseball cap. If you’re worried that a sunhat might look a bit too plain, worry not as you can decorate them with a beautiful ribbon wrapped around the base if you’re after a pop of color to add some fun to your look.
Flip Flops Are Out, Sandals Are In
While flip flops are the traditional beach shoe due to their waterproof qualities and overall cheap expense, they are not incredibly long-lasting, and can often ruin an outfit if you’re not extremely careful, and that’s why sandals are the way to go on this vacation. Easier to walk in and overall more comfortable, a good quality pair of sandals with a wedge heel will not only give you a much more sophisticated look but will also be much more durable. Pairing wedge sandals with a white outfit will make sure that you look like you just stepped out of sunny Florida rather than freezing New York.
New York in the winter can be especially harsh and cold, so it’s no surprise that more and more people are choosing to fly south for the winter and have a wonderful time in the sunshine. If this is your plan for the cold winter to come, make sure that you follow these great fashion tips so that you look amazing every day of your trip.
