Today, in Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer newsletter stated that the 50th anniversary of the African American Day Parade and this year’s theme is “Integrity and Transparency = Good Government.” Gale Brewers office’s annual reception for the parade honors officeholders, staffers, and others who have made key contributions. Family, friends, and members of the community are invited to attend. Co-sponsored by the African American Day Parade Committee on Friday, September 13, 2019, at Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office Building, 163 West 125th St., 6:00 – 9:00 pm.
The parade itself has as its Grand Marshalls, Athena Moore, the director of Gale Brewers Northern Manhattan office, and Gale Brewer! The parade marches up Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard from 111th Street to 136th St., and begins Sunday, Sept. 15 from 1:00 – 6:00 pm. Their delegation of marchers will meet on 111th Street and Adam Clayton Blvd., at 12:00 pm. This year Harlem One Stop and the Harlem Cultural Collaborative will also join them in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Harlem Renaissance.
