Patch reports that the NYPD is trying to identify four men who attempted to break into a Harlem public housing apartment, police said.
On the night of Oct. 14, the group of men knocked on the door of an apartment within the St. Nicholas Houses complex on West 131st Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard, police said. When 23-year-old and 25-year-old women answered the door, one of the men attempted to force his way inside, police said.
As the women struggled to hold the door closed, the man pulled out an air pistol and shot the 23-year-old in the right arm, police said. The 25-year-old resident then sprayed the man with an unknown chemical substance until he backed away from the door, police said.
When the man backed away, the apartment residents forced the door shut and the four men fled the building, police said.
The woman shot with the air pistol did not require medical attention, police said.
