Patch reports that the United Sates’ dominant Mexican food chain is set to open its first Harlem location after securing a lease on West 125th Street, according to reports.
Chipotle will move into a 2,500-square-foot space at 72 W. 125th St., located between Lenox and Fifth avenues, after searching for years for the perfect spot to open in Harlem, Commercial Observer first reported. The restaurant’s 10-year lease is worth $175 per square foot, according to the report.
“This is where we wanted to be, at the axis of 125th Street and Lenox, where you have the best balance of office workers, shoppers, residents, students and transit users,” Kenneth Hochhauser, Chipotle’s real estate broker in Manhattan, told Commercial Observer in a statement.
The restaurant is expected to open within the first half of 2018 and will offer the chain’s full menu, according to the report. The West 125th Street Chipotle will be just the chain’s third restaurant located above 110th Street. The other two restaurants are located near the Columbia University Campus and by Columbia University Medical Center in Washington heights.
