January 17, 2018

Entertainment Weekly reports that Kim Fields first stepped into the public eye at the age of seven in a 1970s Mrs. Butterworth syrup commercial, and she’s been captivating television audiences ever since. The actress, most famous for her turn on The Facts of Life (which aired from 1979-1988), stopped by Entertainment Weekly: The Show to reflect on 40 years in the spotlight.

In the video above, the Harlem-bred actress revisits moments from her time on Baby…I’m Back!, Facts of Life, and Living Single. She describes the lone season she spent on The Real Housewives of Atlanta as a “social adventure,” and Dancing with the Stars as “one ginormous highlight reel.”

Memories of guest-starring on shows such as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Good Times bring a warm smile to her face, the latter of which her mother, Chip Fields, held a recurring role on as Linella Gordon. Notably, she tells of how her mother and Janet Jackson would rehearse lines for Good Times in their home.

This past November, Fields added author to her list of achievements when she published Blessed Life: My Surprising Journey of Joy, Tears, and Tales from Harlem to Hollywood. The autobiography details personal and professional experiences over the past four decades to help fans get to know her in her own words.
