TONIGHT Tuesday, December 19th, 2017, at 6:00pm, NYC Councilmanwill join Radio Personalities, Elected Officials, Community Leaders, among others for a candlelight vigil in honor of DJ Jinx Paul, and all the fatal hit and run victims in New York City.
Jean Paul Guerrero, better known as DJ Jinx Paul, that was killed on Monday, December 19th, 2016 by a hit and run driver in East New York, Brooklyn. DJ Jinx Paul was a DJ for the popular radio station La Mega 97.9 FM. He was crossing the street in East New York, Brooklyn, when a Hit and Run driver slammed into DJ Jinx Paul, ending with his life and fleeing the scene. DJ Jinx Paul’s death brings a “sad day” for not only his family – an the 7-year-old son he leaves behind – but also for an entire city dealing with this “hit-and-run epidemic.”
Yesterday, there was another fatal hit and run in Queens that should have been the first hit and run alert sent to all New Yorkers in NYC after the “Hit and Run Alert System” went into effect last Saturday, December 16, 2017.
New York City experiences one fatal Hit and Run crash per week on average. Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez, Chair of the Council Transportation Committee, has been an adamant proponent of increasing penalties against hit and run drivers, and ending all traffic fatalities on City streets.
