9th Annual Harlem Holiday Book Drive For Fabulous Kids And Families In Shelters

December 7, 2020

The heartwarming holiday experience you’ve been waiting for–Total Equity Now‘s 9th Annual Literacy Across Harlem Holiday Book Drive–is almost here!

Thursday, December 10, 2020, through Thursday, December 17, 2020, join TEN in bringing reading-infused joy, hope, and inspiration to children and families living in Harlem shelters havens for victims of domestic violence, and other transitional-living facilities.

It’s easy! Start gathering your brand-new and like-new books now.

Then, stay tuned for our announcement of this year’s community-minded book-donation sites.

Last December, thanks to your generosity and teamwork, we reached a new milestone: 22,000 high-quality books donated in just eight years.

This year, despite pandemic-related limitations, we aim to deliver at least 1,000 books in time to make the holidays and 2021 a little brighter for our neighbors.

“Extra credit” for donating titles from our popular list of books about Harlem!

Finally, while books can make a huge difference in the life of a child or family experiencing hardship, we also need to work together to address the shameful inequities and injustices that have forced so many families–thousands of them right here in Harlem–to seek refuge in transitional housing this holiday season.

We can and must do better.

Some say “it takes a village”; we say it takes a Harlem!
