NY Daily News reports that business strips across the five boroughs will be spruced up with $9 million in grants the city is set to announce Monday.
East Harlem will get new street-cleaning services, ads marketing neighborhood shopping on and a “Visit El Barrio” website in the grants being awarded to 11 community groups in six different neighborhoods.
Holiday lighting will be strung up in the Jerome Ave. district in the Bronx, along with “Boogie Down Booths,” outdoor music and art installations under the elevated subway.
Other projects include an East New York Restaurant Week in Brooklyn, and movie screenings and maps to navigate Inwood.
Also getting grants are the North Shore of Staten Island and Flushing, Queens.
