Someone stole $95,000 worth of jewelry from the Harlem home of City Councilwoman Inez Dickens, NYPD police sources said Friday.
Dickens told police that on Monday she noticed the jewelry, 27 pieces in all, missing from a dresser.
Police sources said three friends have a key to her apartment, as do her sister and housekeeper.
Sources also said that Dickens had last checked on the jewelry on July 3, 2015.
In September, she tripped running an errand, broke her kneecap and was away from home until the end of November, first for surgery at Harlem Hospital, then for physical therapy at a rehab center, sources said.
Dickens chairs the Subcommittee on Planning, Dispositions and Concessions.
Her spokesman, Lermond Mayes, said Dickens did not want to comment.
He said the jewelry was a combination of pieces she purchased as well as various family heirlooms.
