As society becomes more open to the benefits of cannabis, an increasing number of people are looking into how they can integrate it into their lives.
But with so many different methods of consumption available, it can be difficult to know which is the best for you.
There are dry herb vaporizers, dab rigs, edibles, bongs, tinctures, joints, and more. In this blog post, we’ll explore the pros and cons of various cannabis consumption methods, so that you can make an informed decision about which is right for you.
Here are 5 cannabis consumption methods to try as a beginner:
Bongs, Bubblers and Pipes
If you would like to begin your marijuana journey with something a little more traditional, then a great choice would be bongs, and to a lesser extent, bubblers. Bongs are basically beakers filled with a bit of water that have an insertion hole for a bowl on the side, and a mouthpiece at the top where the smoke is inhaled from. A bubbler is similar to a bong, except for the fact that it is much smaller, and is ideal for consuming on the go, whereas bongs are not. Cannabis pipes are usually made out of glass, metal, or wood, and each has its own advantages and disadvantages. DankStop’s glass hand pipes are easy to clean and maintain, while metal pipes heat up quickly and retain the heat longer. Wooden pipes are less expensive but may not be as durable as other types of pipes. Ultimately, the decision of which type of pipe to use is up to the individual smoker.
With all methods, you will need to grind marijuana, fill the bowl, use a lighter or some form of combustion to burn the marijuana, and then inhale the smoke that is created through the mouthpiece. One of the reasons that bongs are a good choice for beginners is because they are very cheap, and they aren’t complicated to use. They are also great for sharing, which means that they can be used easily when hanging out with friends.
Vaporizers
This consumption method has seen an increase in popularity over the last few years. One of the reasons why vaporizers have become so popular is because they are a much healthier alternative to smoking which uses combustion as a heating method.
Another reason why they are great for beginners is that they are relatively simple to use. All you need to do is grind marijuana, place it in the chamber, choose a temperature, and inhale the vapor when ready. In addition to this, you can even get vaporizers that use THC concentrate, which eliminates the need to grind anything, making the experience a lot more convenient.
Tinctures
If you are an absolute beginner to marijuana and have never tried any consumption methods, then tinctures would be a good choice. One of the reasons why tinctures would be a great choice for beginners is because they are extremely easy to use. Tinctures are basically little vials that contain either cannabis-infused alcohol, or THC oil with a carrier oil like coconut oil.
To use it, all you need to do is drop a few drops of the THC oil under your tongue, and wait for the effects to kick in. This usually takes around 15 minutes, and the effects last for up to 4 hours.
Capsules and Pills
If you like the idea of tinctures, but would prefer a consumption method that lasts for a little while longer, then capsules and pills would work well. Capsules and pills are probably much easier to use than tinctures since you don’t need a dropper of any kind. All you need to do is swallow the pill or capsule.
Since the pills and capsules make their way to your digestive system, the duration of effects is much longer, typically around 6-8 hours. This consumption method has become popular amongst those using marijuana for medicinal purposes.
Edibles
Whilst tinctures are easy to use, and capsules and pills offer a longer duration of effects, edibles are also a great option for someone looking for something similar, but a little more exciting. The reason edibles are similar to capsules and pills is because the duration of effects is also between 6 to 8 hours.
The reason that edibles are slightly more exciting is because of the fact that they are food items that have been infused with cannabis. This means that you can eat your favorite food and get high at the same time. Since there is nothing simpler than eating, edibles are by far the best consumption method for beginners.
