One person died in an apartment fire Tuesday morning in East Harlem, an FDNY spokesman told sources.
The fire broke out around 6:33 in an apartment building on East 105th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues, the FDNY spokesman said. Firefighters were able to control the fire by 6:44, fire officials said. The building is part of the New York City Housing Authority’s George Washington Carver Houses development.
The person, who has not been identified, was declared dead on the scene, an FDNY spokesman told sources.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown and under investigation, fire officials said.
